Introduction

The death is transcribed with the Consular Services of the place where the death occurred.
It is declared to the civil status officer at the Consulate by: the son, the spouse, the father, the mother, the testamentary or dative guardian, the Kafala (bailed) attendant for the person object of Kafala, the brother, grandfather, close relatives who follow in the order or by any authority legally empowered for this purpose.

  • Complete copy of the death certificate issued by the competent authority of the country of the place of death; 
  • Passport and CNIE of the deceased; 
  • Family booklet or Moroccan identity and civil status booklet on which the deceased is registered, if applicable; 
  • Birth certificate of the deceased; 
  • Marriage certificate, if applicable; 
  • Birth certificate or CNIE extract of the widow

Non-resident cases:

If a Moroccan dies while travelling by sea or air, the death must be declared to the Moroccan registrar at the first Moroccan port or airport of arrival; the Moroccan Consular Services of place of destination or the registrar of the last place of residence of the deceased in Morocco, should be informed within thirty days from the date of arrival.
