Power of attorney for real-estate transactions
Introduction
Law No. 69-16, which came into force on September 14, 2017, introduced a new proxy procedure for real-estate transactions.
Private proxies, legalized in the boroughs, are no longer accepted by the National Agency for Land Conservation, Cadastre and Cartography. The land conservators will therefore reject any registration or modification in the land title on the basis of an act not written by a notary, Adoul or lawyer.
The Penal Code (articles 334 to 391) punishes forgery, counterfeiting and theft of identity, title or function.
